Fishing in WoW

Your goal with WoW fishing may be to level fast or to go a little slower and make more gold. No matter how you approach it knowing where to go to do the best fishing is ideal for both leveling and making gold.

Fishing is a very important secondary profession. It can provide a lot of ingredients for various alchemy formulas, cooking recipes, or Hunters can use it to feed their pets. For the beginners, regardless of race, when you are starting out, fishing in any water in a starting area will allow you to level your fishing to level 50. The fishing skill involves virtually no danger to the player and gives him free food that can be used to heal himself between battles or a chance for the player of of a hunter to obtain free food for his pet. Higher level fish, such as the Goldenscale vendor fish that can be caught in the Outlands, sell for six gold, but while fishing is virtually all profit to the player it is not one of the big moneymakers in the game.

But to get the most from it you definitely want to get to the high levels in fishing pretty quickly. the highest level in Fshing possible is 450. If you want to get there as quickly as possible, this is the quickest route:

Start with at least 10 levels. Get yourself a fishing pole from a fishing shop. Northrend is actually the best place to fish for leveling fast. If your character is Horde you want to head to Vengeance Landing and if you are Alliance you want to head to Valgarde.

Fishing zones are in Outland, North end, and Azeroth. All fishing casts with a catch will be rewarded with a chance for a skill level up. However, if your skill level is too low for a fishing zone, chances are you will get junk items from the water. There are in-game scenarios such your fish could get away from your pole. This will not gain any points for skill level.

The apprentice level fishing training allows for a higher success in gaining level up points in fishing skills. The experience level of a WoW character will have no effect on skill to do the fishing profession.
