WOW Paladin Guide

Paladins are one of the more popular classes in World of Warcraft because of their ability to play many different roles in parties. Paladins can play 1 of 3 potential roles, 1. as a Healer 2. a Tank or 3. DPS. They can also combine and be a tank/healer support class, this is very effective combination. This fact makes the Paladin class a great choice for those who like both the Priest and Warrior class but want more options in play style. The Paladin class can be played if you’re one of the following races, Humans, Dwarves, Draenei, and Blood Elves.

Paladin Talent Trees

Depending on how a player chooses to distribute his or her talent point, a paladin can become a powerful DPS fighter, a good tank and a decent healer. And with this great flexibility as well as the use of their seals, blessings and auras and some good training from a WoW paladin guide, you will definitely make them represent an important part of any party or raiding group, whether it’s PvE or PvP.

Paladin talents are split into 3 categories:

Holy Paladins, This build are for those who want to act as a primary support class healer. The good thing about Paladins is that they can wear heavy armour which makes them more protected from attacks where as priests have lighter armour and a harder time defending themselves when they are targeted.

Retribution paladins, the offensive variant of the paladin class, have more recently become increasingly viable candidates for raiding positions as well as taking spots on arena teams where we were once seen as only healers. In fact, Paladins are now very common in high ranking arena teams and Ret Pallies are feared in the Battlegrounds.

Protection paladins, this is a pure Tanking build. Tankadins are like a more efficient longer lasting warrior as they have the ability to heal themselves and protect themselves against physical attacks with magic whereas warriors usually rely solely on their armour and HP.

Paladin professions

Some good profession combinations for the Paladin.

• Herbalism + Alchemy: Save your mana by using potions for healing instead.
• Mining + Blacksmithing: You can make your own armor instead of questing or buying it. Mining allows you to gather the resources needed to craft items in blacksmithing. blacksmithing allows you to create heavy mail and plate armour and also weapons. When you reach a certain level your character can branch off to specialise in either being an armour smith or a weapon smith.
• Mining + Engineering: Taking the Engineering profession in order to obtain limited ranged capabilities such as dynamite, bombs, and trinkets. Make grenades and other gadgets to increase attack range.

Paladin Leveling

Holy: not typically used to solo level fast, but very efficient for groups and against undead NPCs. The Holy tree has a few talents that focus on healing and increased damage. Since this is a leveling guide we will focus on using the holy tree to help you level.

Protection-this tree is not much damage, but is skilled in being defensive. There’s where your would typically spend most of your points if you were going to be a main tank, for instance. As for Paladins, they have a hard time in living at lower levels. This is where the tree comes in.

Retribution is considered the fastest tree to use for leveling and soloing. It has the highest DPS output you can get with a Paladin(without burning through your mana). The route I like focuses on reducing mana costs for your judgments and cool downs so they are more ready for you to use.

It goes without saying that Paladins are a powerful class at high levels but extremely slow to start off. They are hard to kill in PvP. Paladin PvP

The more you understand about the powers you have as a paladin, the better you’ll be able to take down other players when they challenge you, whether in a duel situation, or in group combat. It’s no surprise that a Paladin can play a few different roles in PvP. When soloing, a Paladin’s ability to heal themselves can frustrate their opponents to no end. With a full load of mana, they can use their self-healing abilities to recover from almost any level of damage once or twice and essentially triple their health bar. When playing as part of a group, A Paladin will often end up in a support role, fighting when necessary, while also providing bubbles, blessings, heals, and melee aid throughout the battlefield in ways that no other class can do.

Gear and Weapons

Gear for a good Retribution Paladin can be a pain in the backside. There are a lot of different things you’ll need as you level to keep those stats nice and even. You could be working on getting some more mana to maintain your seals and judgments or you could be focused on increasing your strength enough so that you can land some bigger hits with that hefty sword of yours.

At first, you’ll work with some basic mail armor – the key stats to aim for when you get started is Strength, then Intellect, then Stamina for some much needed health, Agility to too boost your critical attack rate, and Crit rating. That should set you up pretty well as you level up – well enough to keep the mana pool flowing and your damage blowing over anyone in sight.

When you reach Level 40, make sure to have a nice stock of Plate armor on hand. It’s going to cost a LOT to do this with gold, so save your quest rewards from level 33 on so that you can just swap over your stats when needed. If that fails, make sure to keep the right stats on equally leveled mail armor. Sometimes, those nifty healing boosts are only available when you load up on mail gear.

For your weapon, you want to find a big, heavy 2 handed sword to knock some teeth out and show who’s boss. Get the slowest weapon with the biggest damage range.

Make sure you have a blue-quality shield and weapon. Update them whenever you can, within reason. I personally would not start until I had Aegis of the Scarlet Commander and Hand of Righteousness as their awesomeness will carry you until the later talents kick in and really make you into a beast. Focus on Block Value, Strength, Stamina, and Defense in your gear. When you start pulling camps of 10 mobs that run out to get their friends, trust me, you’d rather drink after than run out of health.

Also, very important… GET A SHIELD SPIKE. The best one you can afford. Seriously, it makes a huge difference.
